The Myth of Gothic Land

Alice en blanco y negro

Drawing by my talented sister,  Mercedes Domínguez

A symbolic framework to explore shadow, grief, loss, and transformation through Gothic artistic expression and Jungian psychology

Alice in Gothic Land is a symbolic territory where Gothic language meets Jungian psychology. Here you are invited to explore what has been silenced: the aches of your body, the whispers of your mind, and the stirrings of your soul.

The Myth Unfolds

Every journey begins with discomfort. Mine began as an existential quest through Gothic literature and the intricacies of the human psyche. Over time, this fascination became a personal myth and a symbolic map to explore inner worlds.

This myth is the foundation and framework of Gothic Land, through which inhabit shadow, grief, and transformation without fear or fragmentation.

From Wonderland to Gothic Land

As a child named Alicia, Alice in Wonderland always felt like a strange, fragmented and even frightening story for kids.  The dreamlike world of masks, cruelty, and riddles clung to me across my childhood. Only years later did I realise that beneath what looked like nonsense to me lay a deeper truth that talked about my own inner Gothic world.

Through literature, I found the language to name discomfort, dreams, and the hidden layers of the unconscious. Through Jungian psychology, I discovered the power of archetypes and symbolic realities. These became the building tools to map and guide others in their personal descend.

The Three Gates of the Descent

These are three symbolic thresholds that are always present in my sessions:

  • The Body as a Haunted House: Fatigue, illness, trauma… the body remembers it all. Listening to it uncovers the stories you carry.

  • The Mind as an Archetypal Universe: Dreams, anxiety, and neurodivergence are patterns of meaning, not errors.

  • The Soul as a Daemonic Guide: That quiet dread, longing, and pull toward the unknown is the daemon’s voice. It disrupts but also transforms.

The Invitation

This is not a place to fix yourself. It is a place to remember. To listen. To give form to what aches in your body, whispers in your mind, and hungers in your soul.

“Being a funeral director, I expect that each day I will be dealing with families who lost a loved one...While Alice in Gothic Land and I discussed my expectations in life, it brought more clarity to my writing expectations... our conversation brought clarity to my life .”
